Dr. Vasiliki Karagkouni

Dr Vasiliki Karagouni is Associate Professor of Public Law / Comparative Law and Head of the Law Department of Frederick University. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and was awarded her Master’s Degree and her PhD from the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She teaches courses within the Bachelor of Law Program and the postgraduate program in Public Law, as well as in the distance-learning postgraduate programs in European Law and the Law of New Technologies. Her research interests include Administrative Law, Comparative Public Law, and Human Rights, with a particular focus on Anti-Discrimination Law and Gender Equality. She has participated in scientific researches financed by the European Union, Frederick University and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, concerning public issues, human rights, and the incorporation of European Directives in the Greek law system. Some of her studies are cited on the official websites of the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union, while her research expertise on gender equality issues has been sought by the World Bank. She is a proficient user of Greek, English and French and has very good knowledge of German and Russian.

Η Δρ Βασιλική Καραγκούνη είναι Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια Δημόσιου Δικαίου / Συγκριτικού Δικαίου και Πρόεδρος του Τμήματος Νομικής του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick. Κατέχει πτυχίο Νομικής από το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης και Μεταπτυχιακό Δίπλωμα Ειδίκευσης και Διδακτορικό Δίπλωμα από τη Νομική Σχολή του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Διδάσκει μαθήματα στο πρόγραμμα του Πτυχίου Νομικής, στο μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα Δημόσιο Δίκαιο και στα εξ αποστάσεως μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα Ευρωπαϊκό Δίκαιο και Δίκαιο Νέων Τεχνολογιών. Στα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα εντάσσονται το Διοικητικό Δίκαιο, το Συγκριτικό Δημόσιο Δίκαιο και τα Ανθρώπινα Δικαιώματα, ιδίως το Δίκαιο κατά των Διακρίσεων και η Ισότητα Φύλων. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε επιστημονικές έρευνες χρηματοδοτούμενες από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, το Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick και το Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών σε θέματα δημοσίου δικαίου, ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων και ενσωμάτωσης ευρωπαϊκών οδηγιών στο ελληνικό νομικό σύστημα. Μελέτες της αναφέρονται στις επίσημες ιστοσελίδες του Ευρωπαϊκού Δικαστηρίου Δικαιωμάτων του Ανθρώπου και του Δικαστηρίου της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, ενώ η ερευνητική συνδρομή της σε ζητήματα ισότητας φύλων έχει ζητηθεί από την Παγκόσμια Τράπεζα. Έχει άριστη γνώση της ελληνικής, αγγλικής και γαλλικής γλώσσας και πολύ καλή γνώση της γερμανικής και της ρωσικής γλώσσας.
