The Frederick University Library has two locations in Cyprus:

The opening hours of the Frederick University Library are:

Nicosia: Monday – Thursday: 08:30 - 19:30 
  Friday: 08:30 - 18:00 
Limassol Monday – Friday: 08:00 - 19:30
Reading Room (Room 308) Monday – Friday: until 21:00
Saturday: 08:00 –13:00

The Frederick University Library is open to:

  • Students: All registered students of the University are entitled to borrow books and have full access to the Library’s services free of charge.
  • Researchers: Individuals collaborating with the University on research activities are granted full access to the Library's resources and support services..
  • Academic Staff: Faculty members may utilize the Library’s collections and services to support their teaching and research activities.
  • Administrative Staff: University administrative personnel are also entitled to use the Library’s facilities and services.

Yes, you can use the Frederick University Library even if you are not a member of the academic community. The library is open to the public during its operating hours. It offers free access to external users, provided they comply with the library’s terms and conditions (presentation of a valid national ID or another official identification document is required).

To register or use the library, external users must present the necessary identification. 

External users of the Frederick University Library are divided into two categories:

External Users (Free Access):

  1. Frederick University Alumni: Alumni can use the library for free for one year after graduation.
  2. Collaborators in Research Projects: Researchers and scientists collaborating with the University on research programs have free access.
  3. Organizations with Library Use Agreements:Organizations that have agreements with the University regarding library usage may use the library according to the terms of the agreement.
  4. Members of the Cyprus Libraries Consortium (CLC): Consortium members are entitled to borrow books and access library services.

External Users (Annual Membership Required):

  1. Other Interested Individuals (with Annual Membership):
    Individuals who are not affiliated with the University (e.g., non-students or non-staff) may register and pay an annual membership fee to use the Library.
    The annual membership fee is €12, and the membership card costs €3. In case of card loss, reissue costs €10.

Users can borrow books from the Library's collection. The borrowing of audiovisual materials (CDs, DVDs, audio tapes), encyclopedias, dictionaries, guides, bibliographies, journals, newspapers, and rare books is not allowed. These materials are available only for use within the Library premises. For more details, please refer to the Borrowing Regulations.

The renewal of borrowed materials is possible as long as the item has not been requested by another user. The renewal process is carried out by phone:

  • For the Limassol Library: 25730975

In case of delayed return or renewal of borrowed materials, a fine will be imposed. The fine amount depends on the type of material. For detailed information, please refer to the Borrowing Regulations.

In case of loss or damage to borrowed materials, it is necessary to immediately inform the Library staff. Usually, you will be asked to replace the material with the same or a similar item. If replacement is not possible, the user must pay for the cost of the material, as well as any fine for damage or delay. Prompt communication with the Library helps in finding the best possible solution and avoiding further issues with future loans.

Students and staff of Frederick University have the ability to borrow materials and use the services of other academic libraries in Cyprus through the University's participation in the Cyprus Libraries Consortium (CLC).
