Users and Membership
1. Categories of Users
The Frederick University Library grants access and usage rights to its services according to the user category. Users are classified into the following categories:
A. Internal Users (Free Access)
Access to the Library’s services and resources is provided free of charge to the following categories of internal users of Frederick University, provided that they present their university identification card (or another official identification document) when using the Library’s facilities and services:
- Students: All registered students of Frederick University are entitled to free access to the Library’s resources and services, as well as full support in locating and using educational and research materials.
- Researchers: Researchers who are members of, or employed by, Frederick University or the Frederick Research Center in research projects have full access to the Library and to specialized research and information support services.
- Academic Staff: The academic and research teaching staff of Frederick University have full access to the Library’s resources in order to support teaching, research proposal writing, research project implementation, and personal scientific and professional development.
- Administrative Staff: Members of the administrative staff of Frederick University are entitled to full access to the Library’s services.
B. External Users (Free Access)
Frederick University Library provides free access to external users, provided they comply with the terms and conditions set by the Library (presentation of an official identification document, such as an ID card or other valid proof of identity, is required). External users are classified into the following categories:
- Frederick University Alumni: Graduates of Frederick University are entitled to free use of the Library’s services and resources for one year from the date of their graduation. This access is granted to strengthen the bond between alumni and the University and to support their continuing education and professional development.
- Collaborators in Research Projects: Researchers and academic staff collaborating with Frederick University or the Frederick Research Center in various research projects are entitled to free access to the Library’s materials for the purposes of their research, facilitating the implementation of their research activities and collaborative projects.
- Organizations with Library Use Agreements: Organizations and institutions that have entered into official collaboration agreements with Frederick University and the Library are granted access to the Library’s resources and services, in accordance with the terms of the signed agreement.
- Members of the Cyprus Libraries Consortium (CLLC): Internal members of the libraries participating in the CLLC are entitled to borrow books and access other library services and resources (for use within the Library).
To obtain an external user card, the applicant must pay an annual membership fee of €12. Additionally, a €3 charge applies for the issuance of the card. In case of loss, the card can be reissued for a replacement fee of €10.
C. External Users (With Annual Subscription)
- Other Interested Parties with Annual Subscription: All external users who do not belong to the above categories but wish to access the Library’s services may register by paying an annual subscription fee of €25. Registration provides the ability to use the Library’s facilities and to have access in resources available to the public, both electronic and printed. Applicants must submit a membership registration form. Once the application is approved by the responsible Library staff member, the applicable fees must be paid as well as the annual subscription, the interested parties receive the card, which is necessary for their access to the Library.
Note: All external users are required to present the necessary identification either at the time of registration or when using the Library’s services, in order to ensure the smooth operation and monitoring of the Library’s resources.
To obtain the external user card, the interested party pays an annual subscription of €25. In addition, a fee of €5 applies for the card issuance. In case of loss, reissuing the card is charged €10.
D. Visitors (Free Access for Reference Only)
- Access to books without borrowing privileges: Library visitors may access books only for study and reference within the Library premises. Borrowing of books is not allowed.
Note: All visitors are required to present the necessary identification either at the time of registration or when using the Library’s services, in order to ensure the smooth operation and monitoring of the Library’s resources.
