Ms. Kally Sozou

Short CV

Kally Sozou is a member in the School of Arts, Communication and Cultural Studies at Frederick University, where she teaches undergraduate (BA) courses in the Department of Arts and Communication. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) and an MA in Visual Communication from Birmingham Institute of Art & Design, University of Central England, UK, and a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK. She also holds a Diploma in Graphic and Advertising Design, awarded with commendation, from Frederick Institute of Technology, Cyprus. As a practising visual artist and designer, she works across visual communication, art practice, creative collaboration and research. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and was chosen to represent Cyprus at the 13th Biennale of Young Artists in Italy. More recently, her work was selected for the permanent Collection of Contemporary Cypriot Art of the State Gallery. As a member of the Spatial Design Artefact and Research Unit, she has contributed to National and European research projects, events and workshops, overseeing their visual communication and dissemination. Her research interests include visual literacy, visual rhetoric, memory and narratives of cultural identity.

Η Κάλλη Σώζου είναι μέλος της Σχολής Τεχνών, Επικοινωνίας και Πολιτισμικών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Φρειδερίκου, όπου διδάσκει μαθήματα προπτυχιακού επιπέδου (BA) στο Τμήμα Τεχνών και Επικοινωνίας. Είναι κάτοχος Μεταπτυχιακού Διπλώματος (PgDip) και MA στην Οπτική Επικοινωνία από το Birmingham Institute of Art & Design, University of Central England, Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, καθώς και πτυχίου BA (Hons) στις Καλές Τέχνες από το University of the West of England, Bristol, Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Κατέχει επίσης Δίπλωμα στον Γραφιστικό και Διαφημιστικό Σχεδιασμό με ειδική διάκριση (commendation) από το Frederick Institute of Technology, Κύπρος. Ως εν ενεργεία εικαστικός και σχεδιάστρια, δραστηριοποιείται στους τομείς της οπτικής επικοινωνίας, της καλλιτεχνικής πρακτικής, των δημιουργικών συνεργασιών και της έρευνας. Το έργο της έχει παρουσιαστεί σε εκθέσεις στην Κύπρο και στο εξωτερικό και επελέγη να εκπροσωπήσει την Κύπρο στην 13η Μπιενάλε Νέων Καλλιτεχνών στην Ιταλία. Πιο πρόσφατα, έργο της επελέγη για τη μόνιμη Συλλογή Σύγχρονης Κυπριακής Τέχνης της Κρατικής Πινακοθήκης. Ως μέλος της Ερευνητικής Μονάδας Spatial Design Artefact and Research Unit, έχει συμβάλει σε εθνικά και ευρωπαϊκά ερευνητικά προγράμματα, εκδηλώσεις και εργαστήρια, έχοντας την ευθύνη για την οπτική επικοινωνία και διάχυσή τους. Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν τον οπτικό εγγραμματισμό, την οπτική ρητορική, τη μνήμη και τις αφηγήσεις πολιτισμικής ταυτότητας.
