Mr. Sergey Popravko

Dr Sergey Popravko is an experienced professional with 45 years of expertise in the shipping industry. After serving as a Deck Officer and Master aboard tankers for more than a decade, Sergey transitioned ashore in 1994 to join Primorsk Shipping Company (PRISCO) as a chartering manager. Within three years, he was promoted to the position of Fleet Director. During his career, Sergey successfully completed professional examinations to become a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS). In recognition of his contributions, he achieved the status of Fellow of the ICS in 1998. In 2004, Sergey further advanced his career by assuming the role of CEO at PRISCO. From 2006 onwards, Sergey held the position of Managing Director at UNICOM then SCF MS, a prominent shipmanagement company headquartered in Cyprus. In this role, he oversaw comprehensive management operations for a diverse range of vessels, including oil and product tankers, LNG and LPG carriers, dry bulk vessels, offshore supply vessels, and shuttle tankers. Notably, over 70% of the fleet managed by UNICOM consisted of ice-class vessels capable of operating in harsh Arctic environments. Sergey's academic achievements include a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the Swiss Business School in Zurich and an MSc degree from the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmoe, Sweden. Throughout his career, Sergey actively served as a member on several prestigious boards. He held positions as a Board Member at the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation Limited (ITOPF), Assuranceforeningen SKULD (Gjensidig), and the Cyprus Shipping Chamber. Additionally, he served as a Member of the Advisory Committee at West of England Insurance (Lux) SA.

Ο Sergey Popravko διαθέτει 45 χρόνια επαγγελματικής εμπειρίας στη διεθνή ναυτιλιακή βιομηχανία, με εξειδίκευση στη διαχείριση πλοίων, τις ναυλώσεις και τη στρατηγική διοίκηση ναυτιλιακών επιχειρήσεων. Ξεκίνησε την καριέρα του ως Αξιωματικός Καταστρώματος και Πλοίαρχος δεξαμενόπλοιων, ενώ στη συνέχεια ανέλαβε ανώτατες διοικητικές θέσεις στην Primorsk Shipping Company (PRISCO), φτάνοντας στη θέση του Διευθύνοντος Συμβούλου το 2004. Από το 2006 διετέλεσε Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος της UNICOM και μετέπειτα της SCF MS στην Κύπρο, με ευθύνη τη διαχείριση στόλου διαφόρων τύπων πλοίων, συμπεριλαμβανομένων πετρελαιοφόρων, πλοίων μεταφοράς LNG και LPG, φορτηγών χύδην φορτίου και πλοίων υποστήριξης υπεράκτιων δραστηριοτήτων, με σημαντική εξειδίκευση σε πλοία ενισχυμένης κατασκευής για επιχειρήσεις σε συνθήκες πάγου. Είναι κάτοχος Διδακτορικού Διπλώματος στη Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων (DBA) από το Swiss Business School της Ζυρίχης και Μεταπτυχιακού Διπλώματος από το World Maritime University της Σουηδίας. Από το 1998 είναι Fellow του Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), ενώ έχει διατελέσει μέλος Διοικητικών Συμβουλίων σημαντικών διεθνών ναυτιλιακών και ασφαλιστικών οργανισμών, μεταξύ των οποίων οι International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF), Assuranceforeningen SKULD και Κυπριακό Ναυτιλιακό Επιμελητήριο, καθώς και μέλος της Συμβουλευτικής Επιτροπής της West of England Insurance.
